Sam and Stephen – Farnham Castle Wedding
Some people will try and tell you that there’s no such thing as the perfect wedding. I’ve worked in this business long enough now to know that nothing could be further from the truth. I shot this wedding in Farnham, Surrey earlier this year, and it proved to be a case in point – these kinds of magical days happen all the time!
Tying the knot on this wonderful afternoon were Sam and Stephen – a delightful, charming, friendly couple who were visibly excited for their big day. I was delighted they booked me for their Farnham Castle Wedding Photography. The pair had lucked out with the beautiful weather, and had chosen a superb location in Farnham Castle – a grand, magnificent old building that is one of my very favourite places to shoot.
Sam and Stephen decided that they wanted a natural approach for their wedding photographs, and had asked for a couple of creative portraits which I shot on location both inside and outside the castle. I took several shots of them both getting ready during the lead-up to the ceremony, as well as a catalogue of images of the venue before the wedding began. The ceremony itself was small and intimate, and I made sure to take pictures from all angles as both the bride and groom made their respective journeys down the aisle. It proved to be a truly beautiful service, which culminated in jubilant applause as Sam and Stephen vowed to spend the rest of their lives together.
After walking out together as man and wife for the very first time, Sam and Stephen (accompanied by the guests and myself) ambled over to the rolling green hills beside the venue for a set of ‘natural feel’ photographs. I managed to grab some gorgeous portraits of the newlyweds with the lush greenery and the elegant castle in view, as well as some great shots of the guests mingling in the balmy sunshine.
After the ceremony came – of course – the party. The team at Farnham Sound and Light provided the dance floor, and threw a surprise into the mix with the inclusion of a dry ice smoke device.
The whole day was coordinated by the tremendous organiser Patrick, who, along with the rest of the staff, worked wonders with the set up, and couldn’t do enough for the guests throughout the entire day.
Farnham Castle is one of the greatest places to get married in Britain, let alone the south of England. With its eye-popping rustic setting, glamorous interior, imposing exterior and a wonderful set of staff, this palace provided Sam and Stephen with the perfect wedding they’d always wanted.
